We’re Hiring: Hospital Assistants (2 Positions)

The Society for Animals in Distress (SAID) is seeking two dedicated Hospital Assistants to join our hospital and field services team.

These positions support our veterinary and animal welfare operations through hospital assistance, animal husbandry, community outreach, and fieldwork, contributing directly to the care and protection of animals in under-resourced communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and para-veterinary staff in daily hospital operations

  • Provide animal husbandry and basic patient care

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, biosecurity, and animal welfare

  • Participate in community outreach programmes and fieldwork

  • Support animal admissions, monitoring, and general hospital duties

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Code 10 / EB driver’s licence

  • 1–2 years’ relevant experience in an animal welfare or veterinary environment

  • Physically fit and able to work in a demanding, hands-on environment

Advantageous (Not Essential)

  • Higher Certificate in Animal Welfare (or equivalent)

  • Field Officer / Inspector Qualification

  • Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)

  • Compassionate, reliable, and professional

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and in emotionally challenging situations

  • Genuine passion for animal welfare

🩺 Monday – Friday: 08h00 – 13h00
🩺 Saturday: 09h00 – 12h00
🩺 Sunday & Public Holidays: Closed

For emergencies outside these hours, we kindly request that you contact a private veterinarian or your local SPCA for assistance.
