Outreach

Small-Animal Outreach

At the Society for Animals in Distress (SAID), we believe that every animal deserves access to quality veterinary care — no matter where they live or what their family can afford. Our small-animal outreach programme brings lifesaving services directly into communities where need is greatest, offering hope, education, and compassionate support to both animals and their owners.

Our outreach teams work daily in Tembisa, Olievenhoutbosch, Diepsloot, and Ivory Park — four of Gauteng’s most densely populated townships, each facing significant socio-economic challenges that impact animal welfare.

Our Mobile Clinic: Care That Comes to You

Our mobile clinic is a fully equipped consulting room on wheels — complete with a medication fridge, essential supplies, and everything needed to deliver professional, reliable veterinary care directly into underserved communities.

Travelling through Tembisa, Olievenhoutbosch, Diepsloot, and Ivory Park, our team provides on-site check-ups, vaccinations, deworming, parasite control, and primary healthcare for animals who would otherwise go without help.

This mobile unit removes the biggest barrier for vulnerable families: access.

What We Do

Our outreach programme delivers:

  • Affordable or subsidised veterinary check-ups

  • Vaccinations (parvo, distemper, feline vaccines)

  • Deworming & tick/flea treatment

  • Treatment for basic illnesses

  • Minor wound care and pain management

  • Spay and neuter bookings and follow-ups

  • Owner education on nutrition, welfare, and responsible pet ownership

  • Crisis referrals to our hospital for animals needing advanced care

Every visit saves lives, prevents suffering, and strengthens the human–animal bond.
